The customer provides leading contact tracing and vaccination program management software to health professionals in Norway. The current platform provides critical services to numerous municipalities and hospitals is a key component in the response to COVID-19.
We are proud to be doing our part to help our society, but the crisis does not define our aspirations. Our ambition is to be the largest and best provider of healthcare software in the Nordics.
We are actively building a team to achieve these goals. We are a tight-knit group of bright and dedicated individuals, laser-focused on two things: providing value to our customers and having a good time doing it.
Opportunity
Our infectious disease platform is used daily in over 200 municipalities and hospitals. The software allows health care professionals to conduct a comprehensive set of activities related to COVID-19, including contact tracing, vaccine candidate grouping and prioritization, appointment booking, notifications, recordkeeping, and reporting.
Much like the COVID-19 situation itself, our software has evolved rapidly. We are proud of the capabilities we have been able to provide during these difficult times, but we also understand the need to step back and consider the big picture.
We are looking for an experienced technologist who can guide the platform and its engineering team through the next phase of growth. Due to the urgency of the crisis, it is a fast-paced and sometimes hectic environment, but it is also a chance to work on something truly meaningful with some of the nicest and smartest folks around.
Current stack:
The API is built using Flask. It communicates with PostgreSQL databases for persistent storage and Redis for cache storage. The deployment pipeline is automated via Ansible scripts.
The production environment is collocated in a Norwegian data center due to regulatory requirements. Some ancillary pieces of the infrastructure are managed in Azure.
Main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a Solution Architect on high-level design and the API’s place in the company’s overall ecosystem
- Collaborate with a Product Manager on developing a long-term roadmap and prioritizing short-term tasks
- Take ownership of the API’s low-level design
- Take ownership of the API team’s delivery execution
- Contribute to the ongoing development of the API, its tooling and its deployment pipeline.
Critical skills:
- Senior-level experience and wisdom
- It’s not enough to know how to solve every kind of problem. We need someone that can judge the technical and commercial concerns of each problem and pick the right solution for each specific case. This kind of thinking usually requires at least 8 years to master.
- Expertise designing and building APIs in the Python ecosystem
- Frameworks come with choices. How are concerns separated and organized? Which external dependencies should be used and when? We’re looking for someone with strongly-held opinions on the right way to build Flask APIs who can guide the team to consensus and follow through on what has been decided.
- Experience leading a small team of developers
- Successful technical leads focus on making other team members as productive as they can be. We like to roll up our sleeves and get our hands dirty—so there will always be opportunities to contribute to the code—but the most important function of the technical lead will be to lead.
- We are an international team. English is the working language of our office.
What the customer offer
- An experimental and fast-paced environment that values learning by doing and makes decisions based on insights from customers, users, and data.
- The opportunity to shape the future of healthcare services.
- Personal growth in a company that values learning and sharing knowledge.
- Flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home.
- For consultants, competitive rates and the possibility to work on new projects.
